Applications
Relieve Bowel Obstruction
Rectal tube is commonly used to relieve bowel obstruction, a condition where the bowels are partially or fully blocked, inhibiting the moving of gas or stool. A rectal catheter will facilitate decompression of the bowel by helping to give an outlet to the trapped gas within the bowel.
Diagnostic Processes
Sometimes rectal catheters are used in diagnostic tests and measures to evaluate the level of pressure in the rectum and anal canal—for instance; manometry is useful in unsupported Hirschsprung’s disease and anorectal dysfunction.
Postoperative Care
